Bishop Transport is a family-run business and has been in operation since 1972, providing reliable transport through the North West remote regions of Australia. The company has well-established delivery networks including depots in Perth, Karratha, Port Hedland, Broome and Derby. Bishop Transport is highly-regarded for their safe and efficient delivery of general and refrigerated freight, dangerous goods, over-dimensional loads, bulk transport and heavy haulage.
Due to the nature of the business of transporting refrigerated goods, they require several cool rooms which greatly increases the amount of energy consumption. The business also requires they load most of the refrigerated vehicles in the evening for overnight travel. Due to these factors they were an ideal candidate to incorporate battery storage into their system in order to offset a percentage of their energy usage which couldn’t be offset by solar during daylight hours.
Infinite Energy designed and installed a 20kW system with the addition of a 8kW sonnen battery (16kWh of battery storage). The system will result in a 41% reduction in energy spend, saving the business close to $8,000 a year, resulting in a payback period of just 4.8 years.
