The Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Service (AADS) was established in 1988 by a group of local Aboriginals who were concerned that mainstream services were not effectively responding to alcohol and substance abuse issues.
Formerly known as the Noongar Alcohol and Substance Abuse Service (NASAS), the AADS offers counselling, family intervention, community development, education and drug awareness programs, and is proud to be the only service of its kind in the Perth metropolitan area.
In an effort to reduce electricity bills and expand their offering, the AADS approached Infinite Energy for a solar solution.
After carefully considering their options, AADS chose to enter into a Solar Power Purchase Agreement with Infinite Energy. By choosing a PPA, Infinite Energy has taken on full ownership and maintenance of AADS’s solar PV system, while the AADS will only purchase the electricity generated by the solar system.
Choosing a PPA allowed the AADS to free up capital to invest in their own organisation, and take advantage of cheaper, cleaner electricity straight from their roof.
In November 2016 we installed a 40kW system for the Aboriginal Alcohol and Drug Service. The AADS will purchase the solar electricity their system generates for just 13.98 cents per unit, substantially less than their grid rate.
