Established in 1972, Broadway Fair is a popular shopping and dining destination in Nedlands, WA. The centre, which is popular with both locals and UWA students, is home to over 60 retailers, food outlets and professional service businesses.
Sun Edison Australia worked with the centre management to design a 312kW solar PV system which would provide over 30% of the centre’s annual electricity demand, whilst providing an additional revenue stream.
As the roof at the shopping centre was in need of substantial repairs, Broadway Fair management decided to re-roof the entire complex prior to installing the solar PV system. Ordinarily, the centre management may have been forced to increase tenants rent to cover the costs of such significant upgrades. However, in this case, the costs of the upgrades will be funded by the savings generated by the solar system.
Sun Edison Australia contracted Infinite Energy to manage the entire project execution. This included the design, engineering, Western Power application process, installation, testing and commissioning of the system.
At the time of writing the system is largest roof top solar installation on Western Power's network.
